Becalmed on Sunshine Cove is a unique, very private 5 -bedroom holiday home located right on the shores of Sunshine Cove, Sunshine Bay, just 8km south of Batemans Bay, on the NSW South Coast.

No expense has been spared to create the perfect escape for family holidays, groups of friends, girls’ weekends or special celebratory gatherings.

The house slowly unfolds as you enter and move down the polished wood hallway, with beautifully appointed guest rooms on each side. However, it’s not until you come to the end of this hallway that you discover this house’s hidden secret. As you pass through the tall glass doors, you enter a spacious, contemporary living and dining area complete with floor to ceiling windows looking directly out over Sunshine Cove. Fling open the large glass sliding doors to access the enormous entertainment deck, where many long lunches and lantern-lit dinners will ensue, all the time serenaded by the soft sounds of waves crashing onto the shore below.

The house’s three generous living rooms are tastefully furnished in contemporary styles and give guests plenty of space to spread out, escape and play. All have fireplaces, with the main living room boasting a fabulous Norwegian open fireplace - perfect for Winter escapes on the coast.

The front living room is quietly decorated and stocked with a full library of good holiday reads. Perfect spot to retreat from the crowd, read, listen to music, do some work, or curl up in front of the gas log fire.

The kitchen is a chef’s dream, with large Ilve oven and cooktop, industrial range-hood, wok burners and grill, a twin-drawer Dishlex dishwasher, wine fridge, Maytag dual fridge freezer and enormous pantry stocked with basics and appliances. Accompanying these premium appointments are a Nespresso coffee machine, Dualit toaster, rice cooker, sandwich maker, chocolate fondu, as well as glassware, stemware, crockery and cutlery for up to 16 settings. There’s even a drawer full of melamine plastic bowls plates and cups for younger guests.

Each booking comes with a complimentary 10-pack of Nespresso Pods, a bottle of champagne in the fridge, and firewood for the open fire. All beds will be made up ready for your stay. For stays longer than one week, a linen change service will be made available, at an extra cost.

The pantry is stocked with basics such as vinegar, oil, salt, pepper, sugar, tea as well as containers to store food. You’ll find 2 coffee plungers for those who like to make their coffee this way, a large teapot, water carafes, chopping boards, mixing bowls, quality non-stick saucepans and frying pans, and kitchen drawers full of all the equipment you need to cook up a storm. Cooking foil, plastic wrap, dishwasher and washing up detergeant and tea towels are also provided.

The breathtaking view from the living and kitchen areas extends outside to the expansive deck, furnished with a stunning outdoor table and chairs that seats 8. Watch the sun set across Batemans Bay as you pop another cork, or wave to the kids paddling in the shallows below. The main living room includes TV, Bose sound system, Foxtel and Apple TV. Plug in your smart phone and listen to your favourite music.

For the BBQ afficionados, Becalmed boasts a fabulous outdoor kitchen with top of the range bbq and range-hood off the main living area on a sheltered deck, promising to be the centre of action after a day in the sun.

All upstairs bedrooms are fitted with quality 1000TC sheets, duck down or wool doona covers, Laura Ashley standard and European pillows, fluffy towels, quality bathroom amenities. All beds have brand new Sealy premium mattresses, and there are white plantation shutters on the windows. Generous wardrobes, reading lamps and throws complete each bedroom, and walls are decorated from the exclusive Genre Gallerie canvas collection.

The bedrooms have been designed for flexibility, allowing for 4 Singles/2 Queen, or 2 Kings/2 Queen configurations, plus the 2 sets of bunk beds downstairs.

The main bedroom can be configured for King bed, or two Long Singles (perfect for those growing teens), and looks directly out onto the water. It has its own luxury ensuite with shower, toilet, twin basins and massive walk in wardrobe.

Two Queen bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, one with it’s own balcony door. A second King/Twin (Long singles) bedroom faces a private internal courtyard.

Downstairs there is a 4-bed kids’ bunkroom, complete with brightly coloured doonas, sheets, towels and pillows. All mattresses and pillows are fitted with water-proof protectors. A bathroom with toilet and shower is next to the bunkroom. Children’s books and board games are on the shelves in this room.

A spacious third living room, complete with large sofa and ottoman, is located on this lower level, fitted out with 55 inch TV and stereo, Blueray DVD player, X-Box and small selection of movies. Sliding doors lead to two outdoor courtyards. Next to the bunkroom is a games/yoga room complete with table tennis table.

The house is located beside a large, wooded block of land on one side and completely obscured from neighbours on the other. All access to areas within the property can be secured by doors or gates, allowing children to play outside without fear of them going out onto the street, or down to the beach.

Polished wooden floors are located throughout upstairs with quality carpets in most bedrooms. The house is airconditioned and centrally heated throughout.

The house has a security alarm system and there is a double lockup garage with electronic door.

The house is a perfect location for a large family or two family groups to gather for a holiday.

For those with little ones, there's a new portacot and highchair, and a safety gate that can be installed at the top of the internal stairs.

For those who'd like to detox from electronics, we've stocked our shelves with classic board games such as Monopoly, Jenga, Twister, Rummicube, Uno, Backgammon, Chess, decks of cards and a range of jigsaw puzzles. We've popped some ouf our kids' favorite reads down there as well. Harry Potter, and lots more.

A sea kayak and life jackets are stored in the large double garage and is available for use.

The beach is accessed via a locked side gate and a bush pathway. Please note, the small, steep track to the beach is not advisable for elderly, the very young, or those with an injury or disability. A more accessible rout to the beach is via the road.

At low tide, discover the beautiful rock pools and hidden coves in and around the corner from Sunshine Cove. Chase crabs, collect driftwood, build sandcastles, shuck some oysters or do some rock fishing. Make sure you check the tides charts before setting out.

Sunshine Cove is a shallow graded beach that is sheltered from the wind, perfect for swimming, paddling, snorkelling and kayaking.

Dolphins visit most mornings and evenings. Make sure you wave back!

Apart from family holidays, Becalmed lends itself perfectly for luxury girls' weekends, with bedding configurations that ensure up to 6 can stay in separate beds upstairs. Packages can be arranged to include visiting yoga practitioners, massage, mainicure/pedicure sessions, dining packages at some of our favourite foodie spots along the coast, shopping trips to Mogo, or perhaps the luxury of an in-house chef to cook a very special meal for the group.

During winter, the sun shifts to warm the main living room for most of the day, and a cozy wood fire lit in the evening dispells any theory that winter is just for going to the snow! Average winter temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees.

For those travelling from Canberra, you can reach the house via the Kings Highway in just under 2 hours. From Sydney it's a pleasant 4-hour trip down the coast.

For golfing enthusiasts, the championship-standard 27-hole Catalina Country Club is just 4km away.

For fishing enthusiasts, Batemans Bay has a range of world-class fishing charters available. Please advise us if you are interested in our fishing packages.

We can organise sea-kayaking tours around Batemans Bay and the islands just offshore, and book the tennis courts across the road at the caravan park, for those who'd like to fit a few sets in.
