Built in 1943 Douglas C-47A Dakota 43-48234 served with the United States Army Airforce (USAAF) during World War 2 (WW2). The aircraft operated in the Pacific from Mid 1944 and after passing through Archerfield in Queensland, supported Australian and American troops as the passed through Port Moresby to Manilla in the Philippines.

After World War 2 the aircraft was used by a number of civilian companies carrying passengers and cargo around Australia. In 1947 to 1962 the Department of Civil Aviation (now CASA) used the aircraft for runway and navigation testing (Flown by Trans Australia Airways).

Between 1962 & 1975 the aircraft was operated by Brain & Brown conducting daily flights cargo from Melbourne to Tasmania. In 1984 the aircraft was transported as a museum exhibit at Air World at Wangaratta and then to transported to Mereeba with North Queensland Warbirds.

The aircraft is now based at Caboolture Airfield Near Brisbane Queensland, and the restoration has started to flying condition.

Once flying the aircraft will be operated around Australia as a flying memorial to those who served during WW2 and as an education aid in a hope to inspire people to be leave in their dreams.
